Finally uncloaked: Zoe Ball to join Greatest Hits Radio

Award-winning broadcaster to launch new show on the station as she joins Greatest Hits Radio alongside Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo

Greatest Hits Radio today announces that broadcaster Zoe Ball will join the station to launch a brand-new show, bringing another of the UK’s most loved radio voices to its legendary daytime line-up.

The move marks Zoe’s first daily radio show since the Radio 2 Breakfast Show and will see her host afternoons, following Ken Bruce’s mid-morning show and ahead of Simon Mayo at Drivetime.

Today’s news was also accompanied by a video reveal showing the moment when the dream team of Zoe, Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo first came together available on the Greatest Hits Radio social channels.

Zoe said: “There’s something truly special about radio – the relationship you build with listeners, the energy, the music and the moments of joy and laughter you share together. I’ve missed it and this felt like the right time to begin a new chapter with Greatest Hits Radio. As a station, Greatest Hits Radio has built something really brilliant – epic music, big personalities and a genuine connection with listeners. I’m excited to be joining the team and getting started.”

Gary Stein, Director of Audio for Bauer Media Audio UK, said: “Zoe is one of the UK’s most talented and best-loved broadcasters. She has an extraordinary ability to connect with audiences, a real passion for great music and we’re delighted she’s chosen to join Greatest Hits Radio.

Zoe Ball in the Afternoon will air weekdays 1pm-4pm, starting from Monday September 7th and will feature big guests, listener chats, plus special features including Something for the Weekend every Friday. Alongside her new weekday show, Zoe will continue to co-host the chart-topping Dig It podcast with Jo Whiley.

It was also announced today that, from September, Kate Thornton, is set to launch a new prime-time weekend show on Saturday, alongside her hugely successful UK Pop 40 show every Sunday. Plus, special projects and further news to be announced later in the year. And the good times don’t stop there as, also from September, Claire Sturgess will take over the weekend Breakfast show on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6 – 9am.

Kate Thornton said:  “Zoe’s an incredible signing, an incredible broadcaster and a good friend. I’ll be first in line to welcome her to the Greatest Hits Family and I’m really looking forward to working alongside her!”

Greatest Hits Radio Content Director, Andy Ashton, said: “I could not be more thrilled to welcome Zoe to the Greatest Hits Radio family. The whole team are buzzing that another world class broadcaster will be part of our daytime line-up every weekday. Zoe and the team are already working on the new show, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. Roll on September 7th, and another huge moment for Greatest Hits Radio as the nation tunes in to hear Zoe hit play on her first song!”

Zoe shares more news about her move on Ken Bruce’s show this morning.
