Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is in cinemas now

This February, to celebrate the release of new the Bridget Jones film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Bauer Media introduces Bridget Jones Radio, a brand-new pop-up station dedicated to the beloved romantic comedy heroine and franchise. Powered by Magic Radio and the Hits Radio Network, the station is available now on Rayo, online and on smart speakers.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the new Working Title film from Universal Pictures, StudioCanal and Miramax, is in cinemas now.

With Bridget Jones Radio, which will air throughout February, listeners can expect 24-hour programming filled with music and interviews with the cast, hosted by Magic Radio鈥檚 Harriet Scott and Kat Shoob and Hits Radio Breakfast duo Fleur East and James Barr. Fully embracing Bridget鈥檚 state of mind, they鈥檒l air unfiltered conversations, share their Bridget Jones moments, celebrate the power of friendship and provide the perfect playlist to accompany life鈥檚 ups and downs.

The pop-up station is part of a multi-brand and phased campaign with Universal Pictures to provide Bridget Jones fans with exciting new ways to celebrate the release of the new chapter in the beloved blockbuster franchise. In addition to ads and live-reads on Magic Radio and the Hits Radio Network driving listeners to tune in to the pop-up, the campaign will also include a Magic Breakfast promotion celebrating the UK’s best Bridget moments, takeover days on Galentine’s Day, sponsorship of Magic’s Perfect Playlist and social activity to scout for the best Bridget-inspired dating stories.

Two-time Academy Award庐 winner Ren茅e Zellweger returns to the role that established a romantic-comedy heroine for the ages, a woman whose inimitable approach to life and love redefined an entire film genre.

Bridget Jones first legged it onto bookshelves in Helen Fielding鈥檚 literary phenomenon Bridget Jones鈥檚 Diary, which became a global bestseller and a blockbuster film. As a single career woman living in London, Bridget Jones not only introduced the world to her romantic adventures, but added 鈥淪ingletons,鈥� 鈥淪mug Marrieds鈥� and 鈥渇—wittage鈥� into the global lexicon. Bridget鈥檚 ability to triumph despite adversity led her to finally marry top lawyer Mark Darcy (Academy Award庐 winner Colin Firth) and to become the mother of their baby boy. Happiness at last.

But in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Bridget is alone once again, widowed four years ago, when Mark was killed on a humanitarian mission in the Sudan. She鈥檚 now a single mother to 10-year-old Billy (Casper Knopf, Halo) and 6-year-old Mabel (newcomer Mila Jankovic), and is stuck in a state of emotional limbo, raising her children with help from her loyal friends, including her former lover, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).

Pressured by her Urban Family 鈥擲hazzer (Sally Phillips; Smack the Pony, Veep), Jude (Shirley Henderson; See How they Run, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and Tom (James Callis, Slow Horses, Blood & Treasure), her work colleague Miranda (Sarah Solemani; Barry, Bad Education), her former editor Richard Finch (Neil Pearson; Silent Witness, Waterloo Road) and her gynecologist Dr. Rawlings (Oscar庐 winner Emma Thompson) 鈥� to forge a new path toward life and love, Bridget goes back to work and even tries out the dating apps, where she鈥檚 soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man (Leo Woodall; One Day, White Lotus).

Now juggling work, home and romance, Bridget grapples with the judgment of the perfect mums at school, worries about Billy as he struggles with the absence of his father, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son鈥檚 rational-to-a-fault science teacher (Oscar庐 nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor; 12 Years a Slave, Children of Men).

The returning cast includes Oscar庐 winner Jim Broadbent (Paddington films, Iris) and BAFTA winner Gemma Jones (Wicked Little Letters, Sense & Sensibility) as Bridget鈥檚 parents. New cast members include Leila Farzad (The Marvels, I Hate Suzie), Josette Simon (Wonder Woman, Pok茅mon: Detective Pikachu) and Nico Parker (The Last of Us, upcoming How to Train Your Dragon).

Based on the novel by Helen Fielding, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Morris (To Leslie, Better Call Saul), from a screenplay by BAFTA nominee Helen Fielding and Oscar庐 nominee Dan Mazer (I Give It a Year, Bridget Jones鈥檚 Baby) and Emmy winner Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Eric).

From Working Title, which has produced all of the Bridget Jones movies, the film is produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, whose credits, among many others, include Notting Hill, Fargo, Love Actually, Ticket to Paradise, Les Mis茅rables and The Substance.聽 Working Title films have earned 14 Academy Awards庐 and 10 Best Picture nominations.
