Bauer wins big at 2024 Commercial Radio News Awards
Following a record number of nominees this year, Bauer Media Audio UK News Teams have won gold in seven of the twelve categories at this year鈥檚 Commercial Radio News Awards. The ceremony, which took place at the West London HQ Of Sky News, also saw Bauer journalists and teams runners up in the remaining five categories.
As well as taking home聽Newsreader of the Year聽(National and Regional), Bauer journalists also won聽Newcomer of the Year, Best News Special or Campaign, Best Sports Coverage聽补苍诲听News Team of the Year.

Bauer Media Audio鈥檚 West Yorkshire News Team聽was named 鈥楴ews Team of the Year鈥� in the 鈥榦ver 1.5m TSA鈥� category with judges admiring a 鈥榮mall team who were happy to leave the newsroom, make difficult issues accessible and create some lively and exciting audio.鈥�
The 鈥楴ews Team of the Year鈥� in the 鈥榰nder 1.5m TSA鈥� category was聽Bauer鈥檚 North Yorkshire News Team. The judges cited 鈥榓 creative, innovative team who aren鈥檛 afraid to do things differently, who ask challenging questions and who investigate the stories that matter to their audience.鈥�
Clyde 1鈥檚聽coverage of the managerial change at Celtic FC last year was rewarded with the 鈥楤est Sports Coverage鈥� award. The judges said the team was 鈥榬ight on top of the story鈥� of Ange Postecoglou鈥檚 departure and the return of Brendan Rodgers to Glasgow, demonstrating a good range of journalism.鈥�
Bauer鈥檚 North West News Team聽won the 鈥楤est News Special or Campaign鈥� award for its 鈥楩ace the Family鈥� entry which was launched in response to the refusal of Olivia Pratt-Korbel鈥檚 killer to face her family at his sentencing. The judges said it was 鈥榓n outstanding example of a radio team reacting to reflect the views of its listeners and making a difference.鈥� The campaign succeeded in gaining the support of the Prime Minister and being included in the King鈥檚 Speech.
Aileen O鈥橲ullivan was named 鈥楴ational Newsreader of the Year.鈥� The KISS and Greatest Hits Radio broadcaster 鈥榙isplays real craft in her bulletins with great scripting, creative use of audio and story selection to suit the target audience鈥� according to the judges.
The 鈥楻egional Newsreader of the Year鈥� was聽Micky Welch聽from Metro Radio who was described as 鈥榓 breath of fresh air, with a unique style oozing personality with his memorable and passionate approach to newsreading and storytelling.鈥�
The 鈥楴ewcomer of the Year鈥� award was presented to聽Olivia C茅lina Davies聽from Bauer鈥檚 North West News Team. 鈥極livia鈥檚 reporting drips with atmosphere, enthusiasm and personality鈥� according to the judges who praised her 鈥榠mmersive reporting.鈥�
